Out of Hours

To contact a doctor when the surgery is closed at weekends and between the hours of 6.30 pm and 8.00 am Monday to Friday, please telephone the main number (01984 632701) and your call will automatically be forwarded to the Somerset Out of Hours Medical Service

Telephone Advice

If you need to speak to a doctor or nurse on the telephone, please try to telephone (Williton 632701) either between 8.30 am and 9.00 am or between 11.30 am and 12 noon, when the clinician is more likely to be available. We try not to interrupt consultations except in an emergency.

Repeat Prescriptons

prescriptionspurpleRepeat prescriptions should be ordered before your medication runs out. When ordering repeat prescriptions please give 48 hours’ notice. We would ask for your understanding if we are not able to produce your prescription within 48 hours, there may be a problem with your medication and the prescribing doctor may not always be available.

You can request repeat prescriptions in person by using the forms and posting boxes provided in each surgery, by telephoning Williton 635929 or Watchet 634312, Monday to Friday, or by using the online form above.

Collection of Prescriptions / Medication

You are of course, free to present your prescription at any dispensing chemist. However, unless you advise us differently, in the interests of good patient service, we automatically send all your prescription requests to the local chemists (Lloyds Pharmacy adjoining the surgery in Williton or Quantock Pharmacy in Watchet). Filled prescriptions can usually be collected direct from the chemist 72 hours from the time that the request was originally made through the surgery.

Prescription Charges

The local chemist will ask you to pay for your medicines unless you are exempt from prescription charges.

You are entitled to free prescriptions on the NHS if:

  • you are 60 years of age or older
  • you are under 16 years old or under 19 years old in full time education
  • you are on low income, income support or family credit
  • you have a partner who gets Pension Credit guarantee credit (PCGC)
  • you are a pregnant woman or have had a baby in the last 12 months
  • you suffer from certain chronic conditions – please seek advice – or hold other exemption certificates.
  • you have been prescribed a free-of-charge contraceptive.

If you need several regular precriptions, but connot get them free, you may save money be buying a 'Season Ticket'.  Please ask our receptionist for leaflet FP95, which will give you further information about this.
